Tractor-On-the-Go commits to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 5

Tractor on the Go (TOG) has continually shown its commitment towards advancing the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) through its different activities, especially in the area if agriculture.
Recently, aided with support from a grant by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) embarked on a capacity training and skills acquisition programme for individuals in the agricultural sector. The highlight of the programme was the large turn out of female participants interested in agriculture mechanization and tractor operations.
The two-month training programme focused on capacity building to train operators and equipment handlers in agricultural mechanization and tractor operations and raise awareness on the benefits and convenience of the use of mechanization via technology.
One of the aims for the programme which covered Plateau, Taraba, Ebonyi, Lagos and Niger States was to address food insecurity by increasing farm productivity stemming from the adoption of mechanized techniques in these communities; and increasing the income of smallholder farmers through improved uptake of mechanized farming and growth in the number of tractor and farm equipment operators within the communities.
The ultimate objective by Tractor on the Go is to increase food and agriculture system productivity and enhance efficient production along the value chains, which will in turn unlock agricultural production and increase the income for the women and men within the select locations.
TOG is committed to the advancement of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) which include No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Gender Equality, Climate Action, Partnerships for the Goals, etc. This can be seen in all TOG implementation approach to projects, programmes and schemes as well as its operations.
